Therapeutic Conversations

When I first started trying to become a social worker, they made me aware of the therapeutic conversation as a distinct type of conversation. A therapeutic conversation is other-focused, generous, challenging, and welcoming.

Just like all children deserve an Individual Education Plan (IEP), all people deserve a therapeutic conversation. It’s really the best one for all parties. They don’t take any longer, and can be shorter because if you are paying attention to the other party, it’s easier to get the intended message.

Be curious today.
